The South West district and South Coastal district of Western Australia are expected to be impacted with their third severe weather event in as many weeks from Sunday night, with another strengthening low pressure system and cold front to sweep across the region.
Whilst this system isn’t expected to be quite as widespread as the previous events, damaging wind gusts to 90km/h are expected to develop for exposed coastal locations and higher terrain overnight Sunday into Monday from Mandurah – Margaret River – Walpole – Esperance, as strengthening winds wrap around the western periphery of the strengthening low.
During the early hours of Monday morning, a band of showers and thunderstorms is expected, particularly for coastal regions, with locally damaging winds gusts and small hail likely. Whilst thunderstorms are expected to remain south of Perth, scattered showers will develop with the passage of the cold front overnight Sunday, continuing into Monday with southwesterly winds.
Moderate falls will be possible for parts of the South Coast, with 20-40mm likely, with isolated falls of up to and exceeding 50mmn possible.
