Fire danger increasing for Queensland

Very high fire conditions are expected across the majority of Queensland today, as gusty south-southwesterly winds move throughout the state in the wake of a cold front.

Whilst temperatures will drop up to 6°C for southern parts of Queensland, gusty conditions and a drier airmass will combine, increasing the fire threat on Tuesday.

Similar conditions are expected to remain into Wednesday and Thursday, although wind gusts will moderate during the day for inland parts of the state.

During Friday, winds will shift northerly across the western half of the state ahead of the next frontal system, with very hot temperatures likely.
